It doesn't have the depth of a science book but the breadth is impressive and the illustrations very informative. Amazing labour of love.

Rocks and Fossils (Usborne Nature Trail) by Martyn Bramwell
Usborne Hobby Guides are designed to introduce the complete beginner to a range of fascinating and popular hobbies.

Each book starts with a section about choosing and using equipment and goes on to show, with the help of picture strips and diagrams, the basic skills of each hobby.

The book also provides interesting background information and helpful hints and tips from experts. There are also suggestions for simple projects for the reader to try, with ideas for going further.
