The Ethnic Myth: Race, Ethnicity, and Class in America by Stephen Steinberg

One of the most empowering books I have read. Steinberg offers an historical overview of race relations in the United States and examines how this history has built current racially-patterned inequalities in this country. I routinely use sections of this book in teaching about racial inequalities in my Introductory Sociology classes.
