When the original books came out, I got them from the library and pored over them being pleased to find hitherto unexpected connections, and adoring the graphic style where no space is wasted. In the early 90s I spotted and bought a poster of the Fairport Convention tree at one of their gigs, and felt compelled to revisit the books - now published in one volume. They're still fab but I'd love a new volume of updates and new families.
Pete Frame's books are simply classic. I remember seeing the first book in a bookstore in the late 70s and being truly amazed by it. Then I forgot about them for 30 years and finally came across them recently. I bought this book (a collection of his first two books) and his third book and keep them on a shelf on my night table. His research and drawings are so meticulous.

Yes, the history and origins of rock and rollers is not too significant in the grand scheme of things, but it is still show more worth knowing if you are at all a rock and roll fan. show less
Frame traces the development and history of Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Genesis, The Police, and more with his hand-drawn rock trees.
Simply one of the most amazing books ever made. Rock history, facts, context -- much of it based on original research. Information as juxtaposition.
