Guillaume Musso

Cuando comencé este libro, realmente me esperaba algo completamente diferente, voy a poner más abajo la sinopsis y de esa manera verán la razón por la cual yo me esperaba un libro de corte romántico con tintes sobrenaturales.

Nada que no hubiera visto antes en otras partes, en su momento, el argumento me recordó la película "La casa del lago" con Sandra Bullock y Keanu Reeves.

Pues dejen les digo, que más allá de que los protagonistas se contactan vía mensajes, ella estando en el show more año 2010 y el en el 2011, nada que ver con la película ni tampoco con lo que yo me esperaba.

Hay muchas cosas sorprendentes en este libro, tantas que no se ni por donde comenzar.

Lo primero es la narrativa de Musso, es increíble, este hombre escribe de una manera que te atrapa, te sorprende, fluye de una manera impresionante, maneja de manera impresionante el ritmo del libro, bajando cuando es necesario y acelerando cuando se requiere.

Si bien es verdad que hay una historia romántica en este libro, que hay situaciones sobrenaturales o de ficción, como el que los protagonistas se conecten estando en diferentes espacios de tiempo, ninguno de estos dos temas son lo relevante de la historia. El primero, hay romance, si, pero para nada algo usual, no es el centro realmente de la historia y no se esperen una historia romántica al uso porque van a salir defraudados; lo segundo, el juego del tiempo es increíblemente bien manejado, sabemos que es ficción, obviamente, pero podría ser algo real, así simplemente.

Ahí estaba yo, cómodamente leyendo cómo iba naciendo una relación amorosa en una situación poco convencional, cuando de repente la historia da un giro espectacular, y nuestra dulce protagonista nos muestra su peor cara y comienzan los sentimientos de angustia, pero ahí está otro giro de tuerca magistral y nuevamente la historia vuelve a tomar otro rumbo completamente inesperado.

Como buen libro que maneja este tipo de situaciones, por supuesto también están las paradojas y los cambios de situaciones que marcan diferencias en el futuro.

Un thriller espectacular y para nada convencional, he caído rendida ante este autor y segura estoy que me voy a leer todo lo que encuentre de Musso

Un libro absolutamente recomendable, pero ¿que creen? les tengo una mala noticia, el libro no está traducido al español y ni siquiera al inglés, tendrán que esperar o bien buscarlo en su idioma original, francés o alemán o italiano o de plano esperar a que lo saquen en nuestro idioma. show less

A massive figure in contemporary French crime fiction, Guillaume Musso now seems to have been ‘discovered’ and gets a big-time splash for this novel, originally called ‘La jeune fille et la nuit’ when it was published last year. This is a show more perfect summer read which packs a punch and may well have you reading late into the night.

The main narrator is Thomas Degalais, returning to his high school for a reunion and a celebration to mark a new development of the campus – a development that threatens to expose a dead body that Thomas and his friends know is hidden in the wall of the school gymnasium. Over the course of the next few days Thomas and his two closest friends from school – Fanny and Maxime – together with another ex-pupil, the journalist Stéphane Pianelli, try to work out who now might be stalking them, seeking revenge for the events that happened one fateful winter’s night 25 years ago. Long-hidden secrets are revealed and as everyone in Thomas’ life starts to be implicated, he questions his very identity and his past life; everything he thought he knew about himself and his family starts to fall apart. As violence returns to the campus who is to be trusted, and who will survive?

This is a novel with twists and turns. Boy oh boy, it’s full of twists. You will find yourself either marvelling at Musso’s plot, or just shaking your head and wondering what the hell is going on. Everyone seems to have a different version of what happened that night, and as the book nears its conclusion the opening scene of the book – where a body is found in the present day – starts to make sense and, in a slightly clichéd ending, our hero comes face to face with the killer; his life surely is in danger…?

The characters are fleshed out just enough to make you interested, and with flashbacks and other narrative voices thrown in, you do get a sense of motive and just how complicated everyone’s lives have been. Secrets and lies, for sure. It’s definitely a page-turner, and Musso’s novel has been ably translated by Frank Wynne. It’s a breathless rollercoaster that barrels towards its climax and then, with a final possible twist, you are left slightly in doubt as to the veracity of everything that you have just read. Possibly. As I was trying to figure out how to explain the general feel of the book I thought ‘Twin Peaks’ meets Donna Tartt’s ‘The Secret History’ by way of a classic revenge story. It’s definitely worth picking up and reading, and I hope that more of Musso’s novels become more widely available – they certainly deserve to be, on the basis of this. show less

I am not a big movie buff, however, some time ago, I happened to see the film ‘The reunion’, based on the book by Guillaime Musso. If I have to be honest, I did actually not like the film very much, mainly because the structure of events is very unclear and the cause/effect relationships almost non-existent. So I decided to turn to the book, hoping to clear my head a little, as the story seemed intriguing and given Guillaime Musso's name. I did indeed clear my mind a little, especially show more with regard to the timeline of events, but even in the book there is a certain carelessness in the definition of cause/effect relationships. One would say that Musso tried more to surprise the reader with a series of successive revelations concerning the night of Vinca's disappearance and the responsibility for it of the various characters than to achieve a credible story. Despite these problems, the novel is so well written that one gets to the end without any difficulty. show less

Последно, няколко думи за превода: смаях се, когато разбрах, че преводач на романа е доцент от БАН. Искрено бих я посъветвал да се консултира с колегата си Мурдаров по въпроса какво са лист, листо, листи и листа; кои от тях никнат по растенията, и кои правят страниците на книгите. show less
