Lots of kids use the library, and show us what good manners look like

Okay, now this is a preachy book. It's little more than an illustrated list of rules, and the illustrations, while 'modern' and energetic, do little to enhance the text. If kids learn what the book would have them do, it is only for the satisfaction of library staff, and not the kids. The premise is not the problem, but rather the execution: it's entirely devoid of humor, story, or characters kids can identify with. I show more cannot imagine a kid enjoying reading it to her- or himself, or any but the stuffiest librarians, teachers, or parents choosing it for a storytime. show less
This book shows children doing typical day-to-day activities and shows them using the appropriate manners that one would need to use in that situation. I like this book because it gives examples of several situations of good manners, includes children of various ages, and has several fun facts at the end which give examples of good manners in other countries. The children in the book use good manners in places such as in the store, a restaurant, or a museum. On page 16, the children use good show more manners by waiting in line at the movie theater. The book also uses children whose ages range from early elementary school through middle school. On page 23 there are six fun facts about manners in different countries. One fun fact is that in Venezuela, it is proper to sit with a straight back because it is rude to slouch. The idea of this book is to teach children to be polite so that they can be a successful member of society. show less
Why do I have to go to bed earlier than my big sister? Why do I have to wait for my birthday to get my present? Why did my friend get mad at recess when I took my turn on the swing and she had to wait? How can I be fair when I'm playing with more than How can my friends and I decide who gets to use the computer? How can we be fair? Super Sam the problem solver answers kids questions about being fair in challenging situations.
I like how the book shows positive phrases to say, and leaves out negative phrases not to say.
