Amusing and sometimes puzzling, this little book of cartoons written in 1942 gives a different take on life in wartime Britain, with sketches of "before" and "now", or as the author puts it "Another changed place".
Dangers of the blackout, qualities of leadership, rationing, getting a table at your favourite restaurant etc etc.
Some jokes need thinking about - too many years have passed, but a really interesting read for all that.
Stylish illustrations. Casual sexism. Very of it's time.
A sort of "between the wars" joke book, with cartoons, that can be read in about twenty minutes.

You might smile.
There are some wonderful colour adverts in this issue: Huntley & Palmers biscuits, Caley chocolates, Mackintosh's Quality Street, Clarks shoes, etc.
