This book is a complete labour of love! How anybody could amass so many facts about the Carry On series of films is beyond me. Of course, some could be regarded as surplus to requirement but the vast majority are absolutely riveting. This is not a book to sit down and read from page 1 to page 348 but, every time that one picks it up, i guarantee that one will read far more than the small item which one had intended to browse.

There are many good books, both biographies of the artists and show more writing team, plus books of facts upon this seminal English film series; this A-Z MUST be regarded as the definitive book against which the others are judged. show less
I was disappointed by this book; but then, I thought that I was being unfair. This would be an excellent book for anyone who is interested in 'Carry On' but, has not read any of the history.
It is an excellent starting point or, broad brush view of the series of films. It contains much information that I had discovered by reading the individual biographies of the main players: something that everyone would not have the time, or inclination, to do. I have, therefore, rated it as a book, rather show more than as its value to me. show less
"Are You Being Served?" was my introduction to British comedy thanks in part to PBS. I quickly fell under the spell of the staff members of Grace Brothers and the camp situations the crew found themselves in on each episode. I relived my youth over the Christmas holidays last year when I bought the entire series for a steal and watched them all in a few sittings. It was all just as funny as the first time.

I found this book at a library book sale, and I was thrilled. For three dollars I was show more able to lug this baby home and read about the short and sweet biographies of the cast members, along with those of David Croft and Jeremy Lloyd. The book also contains an episode guide, if you're into that sort of thing.

Excellent biography of 'The Lad 'Imself''.

There are errors - in 'The Unexploded Bomb', the bomb is NOT NOT NOT suspended from the ceiling,
it is embedded in the floor of the cellar. Mistakes like this can be resolved simply by listening to the
show - therefore only 4 1/2 for this otherwise excellent bio.
