Another reviewer suggested this book as a graduation gift, and I would agree. But it also could serve a purpose for any age, as the author takes us through the varied stages of dreaming from birth to death. Each stage is elaborated through inspirational quotes, symbolic colors, and unique art pieces created by award-winning artists. Readers are also encouraged to find the hidden--or obvious--star in each piece and make a wish. Then end notes include words from the artists about their pieces show more and their own dream experiences. The value of this book, for me, lies in the art and the artists. show less
Yes I am obsessed with Shaun Tan. I thought this book was wonderful. The art by all the different illustrators were beautiful and the words were very thoughtful. Perfect for any age.
This book is simply amazing. It takes you on a journey through the steps of life. It instills wisdom into its readers and can prepare readers for future hardships. There was one part about times being hard and it gave the readers a sense of hope that bad situations can and will get better. It brought tears to my eyes and I would suggest this book to anyone and everyone. If it does not elicit some sort of emotion, I would stay you are probably made of stone. And all of the illustrations are show more beautifully executed. show less
This book is appropriate for kindergarten-2nd grade. This book is about dreams and wishes, and the author has hidden stars throughout the book for kids to make wishes on. I enjoyed this book. I would definitely have it in my classroom library for students to read.
