I stumbled across this book at a used book sale, and flipping through the pages thought it looked mildly entertaining. It turned out to be a nice little treasure. "Things Chinese" is an encyclopedia from A to Z of Chinese topics: animals, plants, food, arts, literature, jewelry, toys, customs, and landmarks.

Focusing on culture, tradition, and the ancient chinese dynasties each topic provides just enough information to reveal the basics: sometimes with a small but precise paragraph and show more photos, while more complex subjects render a full page definition. "Chinese Lessons" is packed with over 400 entries and 150 photographs.

The fact that the first edition was published in 1980 does not diminish in any way the value of this book. In fact, publication before China’s recent modernization enhances the book’s contents, drawing on the colorful ethnic content of China’s past. show less

This book contains a "Master Test" pointing to a series of other psychological tests. Sections consist of questions, scoring keys, and interpretations.
