Celebrating People's History from Josh MacPhee is a visually stunning book that educates the reader ever so subtly through the appreciation of the art used at the front lines of many struggles.
While the posters included were designed to catch the eye of the public that might walk past where they were posted, they also paid as much attention to educating them. And by extension, through this book, us. These posters often tell entire stories or histories in the one larger image. To accomplish show more both activism and education so effectively is quite impressive.
The second edition includes, I believe, about 100 new posters. I am not sure which ones, I don't have a copy of the first edition, so I will simply say that the selection here is really wonderful.
