Quite awful. I say 'quite' because Read does write with some humour and intelligence. However, his autobiography is trashy and poorly edited, it's too short and despite the amazing life Read has led, seems to repeat itself. And the poetry! Oh dear, such bloody awful poetry, it was practically vulgar, and without any swearing in it. The shame. Oh well, the book only took about four hours (or less) to get through.

A collection of tales from the Melbourne criminal underworld, predominantly from the 1970s and 1980s. Simple language makes it easy to read, however I got the impression that Chopper writes history the way he'd like to see it.
Worth it for one or two of the funnier anecdotes but not quite so entertaining as the film, I must admit.
Chopper read continues in his second book with short stories from the criminal underworld, predominantly in Melbourne but also a little from Sydney and Tasmania. Again Chopper recalls history from his own viewpoint with a lot of his ego coming through. Very similar style and stories to his first book.
