Clean: The Revolutionary Program to Restore the Body's Natural Ability to Heal Itself by Alejandro Junger
I enjoy watching my friends magically shrinky-dink in a month when they do this cleanse. It is a solid way of eating and healing the body of all sorts of ills. The cardiologist MD author used it to heal his own depression and irritable bowel syndrome. Almost identical to Mark Hyman's work, but as they both practice Functional Medicine, that makes sense. Junger's writing style and the story of his own healing journey makes a more entertaining read, which tends to be more motivational.
Clean Gut: The Breakthrough Plan for Eliminating the Root Cause of Disease and Revolutionizing Your Health by Alejandro Junger
I'm not a doctor or a scientist. I picked up this book because it intrigued me. I've been reading about probiotics and thought this would have some useful info.
Well - it did some good explaining of the digestive system. Now, whether all our illnesses are caused by an unbalanced gut. . . hmmm. I know if I eat better, I feel better. It makes some sense to do a cleanse and gradually find out as you add certain foods back into your diet what might have disagreed with you. But to clear out show more toxins?
I'm always a skeptic, it seems. I did google this author on the internet. Found out he has a program (an expensive program) to sell shakes/supplements to go along with his diets.
I'm not entirely convinced about this but some of the recipes in here sounded good. And it's weird that you can't mix animal proteins and grains together. Whatever. show less

Clean Gut: The Breakthrough Plan for Eliminating the Root Cause of Disease and Revolutionizing Your Health by Alejandro Junger
Nothing like a clean gut to brighten up one's day. I picked this book up out of curiosity. It makes sense to try and eliminate all the poisons that reside in our innards from the poisons doled out by the food processing folks which is most of what most folks eat. The book is pretty straightforward. Maybe it has value, maybe it doesn't. But I would surmise most that have the discipline it takes to get through the regimen and continue with healthy eating would certainly benefit. The show more methodology is not cheap though so bring you fattened pocketbooks. show less
Junger has an amazing way of making complicated physiological concepts seem easy. This is a very straightforward book, thought process and system. Well worth the time.
