Stories from Latin America is a worthy introductory course in Central and South American history and legend. It is part historical and part Spanish language practice, and has the added benefit of being a side-by-side bilingual experience. There are sixteen tales, and I began by reading the English version first. I then read aloud the Spanish version, and frequently checked across the page for vocabulary help. My pronunciation has improved significantly since I started.

I recommend this book show more if you're planning to travel to Latin American or if you're learning Spanish or hopefully both. show less
This is a great book for pre-literature Spanish courses. Students enjoy the legends and they can understand the story line well.
This book of short stories side-by-side in English and Spanish versions is good practice for learning to read Spanish. I recommend it.
