The Ultimate Slow Cooker by Linda Larsen is one of those cookbooks that takes care of all your needs. It is a big book, 499 pages and covers an introduction that talks about the basics.
The sections include breakfast and brunch, appetizers, snacks and drinks, vegetables and sides, then there are soups, stews and chilis, seafood and vegetarian meals, poultry, pork, beef and lamb, basics like sauces, and desserts.
There are recipes for a 3 qt or 6 qt, whether you want to make hot chocolate in show more the small cooker or a whole chicken in the 6 qt.
There are labels, meaning if the recipe is low calorie, gluten free, or vegetarian. there is information on the ingredients, basics such as cooking times and temps for the cookers. I love the tip part of each recipe, ingredient tip, a little lighter, if you have a minute, extra easy and game plan. Easy to read recipes, some with a bit longer prep time than others.
I think that this cookbook will have a prominent place on my cookbook shelves. I love to use my slow cooker and hope to use this book frequently.

The recipes looked FANTASTIC. I tried one, for marinara, and honestly was a little disappointed by the blandness. But I would like to try more recipes before I change my opinion.
So many yummy recipes to try... This book comes with a whole chapter about the origins of TEX-MEX food, a lot of details about chiles and a lot of interresting facts that will teach you to love this kind of food even more. This book has no pictures of the recipes, but the way it is written really makes you almost taste the food.
This cookbook has it all, just like a potluck (or cover dish) party would. The author takes you through the beginnings of pot luck's and even gives you many helpful tips on food safety (very important), a chart for serving size depending on the crowd and different types of pot luck parties you can host. The cookbook has many delicious recipes and even a little education on specific ingredients. I consider this to be one of my foremost reference cookbooks, potluck or just home cooking. Very show more well put together. show less
