An examination of Cuban culture, art, and, above all, literature, through the lens of the fiesta. The author takes us through a century and a half of Cuban cultural self-examination, gives us a personal account with some charming details (including a recipe for pernil -- haunch of pork -- that looks to be delicious). It is marred by anti-Castro sentiments that border on the vicious.
