Excellent book, he combines humor and adds an amusing side story to illustrate his points while finding historic trivia to keep you rivited.
The rape of the APE (American Puritan ethic);: The official history of the sex revolution, 1945-1973: the obscening of America, an RSVP (redeeming social value pornography) document by Allan Sherman
Dated & sophomoric humor along with insightful comments on society & a well-researched chronology of events. Overall a humorous evaluation of society's sexual inhibitions. Also one of the most influential books I read as a 14 year old.
"Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah!" is originally the title of a classic comedic parody song that jabs at the nuances and quirks of summer camp life. Allan Sherman is the original composer of the lyrics, which form the story. Illustrator Jack E. Davis created very strong illustrations that bring the story to life. The illustrations also incorporate numerous comical nuances, and also possesses a style that recreates the comical quirkiness of the song lyrics. Composer/author Allan Sherman wanted to show more demonstrate the following message through his lyrics: things might seem tough at first, but your patience will be rewarded generously if you go though the tough times first. show less
The Rape of the APE: The Official History of the Sex Revolution, 1945-1973: The Obscening of America by Allan Sherman
This is the funniest book I've ever read. Even though it was published in the early 1970's, Sherman's observations of human nature are still right on.
