A short (only 127 pages) but clear, meaty, and critical insight of the obstacles Calvinism provides, especially as it pertains to the doctrine of uncondtional particular predestination, to a proper understanding of Biblical holiness in comparison to the Arminian-Weleyan tradition as the alternative for a right, consistent, and practical understanding of holiness. As Wynkoop states in her preface, "This is not a dogmatic approach. It is rather an historical study." As such, she examines the show more historical comparisons skillfully and allows the reader to see the clear demarcation line between Arminianism-Wesleyanism and Calvinism and the theological tensions between them respecting the doctrine of holiness. Although published in 1972, it is in no way outdated and provides important criticisms on the theological issue between Wesleyanism and Calvinism relevent for today, and needful especially with how it affects the doctrine of holiness and how we ought to think about it. I actually read it twice! show less
A good explanation of the differences and similarities between Arminianism and Calvinism. It is a bit dry, though. Don't read it when you are tired.
