The Unknown Country: Canada and Her People by Bruce Hutchison

Good slice of life reading, traveling back in time, when Canada was just beginning the war years. Some of the issues still resonate with us today. The slice of life stories are endearing as they tell of a country long ago gone, but someways not that far, when Canadians were much more tied to the land.
