YA overview of life in an African game reserve - lot of pictures. Right there in the early morning life is bloody in tooth and claw with what eats what. Lots of bird and mammal species, beautiful photography, some spread over two pages. A good read for animal-loving youth and entertaining and educational for this adult.
Using up-close and gorgeous photographs along with clear, simple language, this book describes the snake life cycle. I used it with my kindergarteners to help explain the difference between the reptile life cycle and the amphibian life cycle (metamorphosis). They really enjoyed learning about snakes and their life cycle, and wanted to see the book again after I read it.
Simple text accompanied by numerous illustrations, mostly photographs. Informative and very interesting, but the presentation is a bit jarring.
I find this book great because it shows how a small duck is before it hatches from the egg, all the way up to it is 6 weeks old and the pictures to go along with each week it grows. A very educational book and easy to read.
