2747 Fix Bayonets! and other stories, by John W. Thomason (read 21 May 1995) A few weeks ago I heard of a 1925 book called Fix Bayonets! on World War One experiences of a Marine officer. This is a 1970 book containing that account and about 20 short stories by Thomason. I found these stories very well done and super-authentic. "The Conquest of Mike" is a story of a Marine outfit's mascot and I was caught up by its superb ending. Pleasant to read real stories about Marines with no spelled out show more obscenities and profanity. This book was a pleasant surprise--I only wanted to read Fix Bayonets! but read the other stories since I finish books I start. show less
Really good writing, and nice pencil drawings as well. A unique and unusual book.
