Rowan Findley has made a pact with his friends never to marry, after one of their circle has been murdered by his wife. However, his resolution weakens when he sees Olivia, with whom he spent a night full of passion seven years ago. They meet at a Christmas party and feel immediately drawn to each other again, but Olivia has reasons to avoid him.

I would have abandoned this audiobook if it hadn't been so short. The plot is predictable of course, but I would have been ok with that. What got on show more my nerves was that there is nothing between the two main characters apart from physical attraction, and I couldn't understand what Olivia sees in Rowan: He behaves so badly, and I couldn't warm up to him at all. There is also a kissing scene without any consent on her part, and he seeks out her estranged parents without consulting her before. In addition, the narration of the audiobook seems hectic and too forceful. The only scenes I really enjoyed were those involving a sleigh ride and other activities in the snow.

This is part of a series with every book written by a different author, but I won't look for the other ones.

Can a Duke fall in love with the daughter of a poor Shakespeare scholar? That is what Tempest Manning is hoping for. He falls for her, literally, every time he turns around he seems to be bumping into her. While the heat is there she certainly isn’t duchess material.
Her shortcomings are even more visible (at least to the Duke’s mother and her titled friends) when Tempest, her sisters, and mother are invited to a house party that the Dowager Duchess is holding in order to parade a bevy of show more Ladies before her son in a version of Regency Bachelor. Obviously, the Mannings weren’t on the mother’s guest list but the Duke (Harrison) and his brother (Adrian) made their mother invite them. While Harrison has good intentions toward Tempest, Adrian is more of a rake and has ruinous designs on her sister.
The characters are well written and you can’t help but pull for Tempest and against the more acceptable Lady Ann. The Duke is an honorable and lovable second son who never was supposed to inherit. His mother is the kind of character you just want to strangle and his brother, the lovable rake isn’t as lovable as he seems. This is a good clean romance that was a delight to read and I can’t wait to see what happens in this series.
I received an Advanced Copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Hannah, Lady Beeston is having a bad life. She was married for 10 years to a cruel man who finally is dead after shooting her in the thigh while dueling her brother. Now, her family doctor has to go out of town and brings in a new doctor to handle her injury. Lucky for her, Dr Graham Alcott has been studying more modern techniques and is able to get her up and walking again. During her long convalescence the two become close and fall in love. Just when things are looking up something bad show more happens.
Jerrica Knight-Catania provides a group on characters you can't help but like and pull for as their Happily Ever After seems to be in jeopardy. Of course, it all comes together on Christmas Eve.
This book contains multiple epilogues which provide additional information on the various couples and friends in the Wetherby series. If you haven't read the books you might not know who everyone is but it is still nice to see everyone get a Happy Ending at Christmas.

The Duke of Danby is at it again. He has invited his great-nieces and nephews to the castle for Christmas and some match-meddling. This time his grand-nephew Gabriel Whitton is on the block. This is a story of love at first sight. Sara Beth Millstone is walking past the castle when the Whitton family arrive. From a distance she sees Gabriel and he sees her. Later that afternoon, as she is entering the local shop to buy some baking ingredients, the two run into each other. She agrees to help show more him pick our Christmas presents for his 2 sisters but when they arrive at the local bookstore she makes a quick escape. It seems the lovely Miss Millstone has a secret.
When Gabriel finds out about her secret instead of being nice about it he teases her - not a good way to start a romance. The two find their way back to each other at the Duke's Christmas Eve Ball and everyone lives happily ever after. As in all Duke of Danby stories you know someone is going to get married but it's a joy to see how they get there. This is a quick and fun read and the characters are well written making you want to get to know them and join in their happiness.
