In ‘FM For Murder’ by Patricia Rockwell, the 2nd book in the Pamela Barnes series, a murder has Pamela back to work in this acoustic mystery. In the early hours of morning, a local deejay is shot to death on air. Unfortunately, the police have no leads on who the shooter is. Hundreds of miles away, the son of a terminally ill carpet manufacturer is keeping a secret that connects him to this baffling crime. With the help of her husband, co-workers and students, will Pamela be able to show more piece together a detailed puzzle that seems impossible to solve? Will justice be served or will the killer remain at large, the shooting an unsolved mystery?

I am a fan of Patricia Rockwell’s writing and have been since reading her first book in this series. I’m also especially fond of series books, as to I become attached to the characters. Patricia has a way of bringing the characters to life and drawing her readers into her stories. Another bonus that I particularly appreciate is a segment at the end of the book, titled ‘Rocky’s Recipes’, where Patricia shares recipes that were mentioned in the book.

Patricia writes ‘cozy mysteries’, meaning that you’ll want to cuddle up with this book for a relaxing read. That’s exactly what I did. I read this book from start to finish in one day. It was a page turner that I had a hard time sitting down. I’ll be reading ‘Voice Mail Murder’ next. I can’t get enough!

I would recommend this book to anyone who appreciates a good mystery, minus the chilling thrillers and gore. I’m not fond of eerie books and steer clear of most mystery genre books. Patricia Rockwell’s writing was a pleasant surprise and a welcome read. Even those with the mildest of tolerance can finally sit down with a mystery that they will enjoy!

When you talk about a firecracker, you could easily be talking about Essie Cobb. She is unassuming, elderly, innocent looking lady. Yet she is a nosy, smart, wild card. If there is a mystery or puzzle, she will figure it out.
Essie and her 3 friends are on a mission to find out who shot Happy Haven's newest resident, Lester Mills, with a firecracker on the 4th of July and why. Now this is not just a firecracker, this was a drone driven missile.
I love this series. Essie and her friends are fun show more and adventurous. And the mysteries are intriguing, yet easy to solve if you pay close enough attention. The stories are short, easy, fun reads. show less
THE GIRLS ARE BACK! These elderly ladies are so much fun to read about. Essie is a 90 year-old, fun, trouble-making, nosy, busybody.
When Essie finds an elaborate Valentine's Day card from a secret admirer in her mailbox, she must solve the mystery of who sent it. While her and her best friends (Marjorie, Opal, and Faye) are investigating, they find 2 more mysteries to solve. Who could be a drug dealer at Happy Haven and why is Grace Bloom having food trays brought to her room?
The answers show more may surprise you.
I thoroughly enjoy these books. Essie and friends are so fun and lovable. Patricia Rockwell writes so well. And they are quick easy reads.

Glory is the widow of a small town sheriff killed in the line of duty. When she goes on her first date after a year of mourning, her date is shot while on the Ferris Wheel. Glory starts to investigate the death of Tom herself, even when herself and her family are at risk.
Each chapter is written by a different author. It reminds me of the old camp side story time when each person had 5 minutes to add to the tale. It constantly takes the story into a new direction and gives a new twist to show more each chapter. But never lost the main thread of the story or got confusing. It flowed together very well. There is no end to the suspects, accomplices, and possible victims.
I really enjoyed Wheel of Death. The story was good and unpredictable.
