This book was fast paced, the plot was busy and somewhat implausible in spots, however it was entertaining enough to keep me reading.

The contemporary novel blends the right amount of suspense, sex, and action to form a good read.

As a fan of Tananarive Due, I thought that I would be able to determine her contribution to the collaboration however, this book flowed seamlessly along despite the fact that it’s written by three artists.

The main character reminded me of one of Eric Jerome show more Dickey's character. The setting is hip-hop, yet Tennyson Hardwick is not. He's a hero with a heart.

A well done debut with clearly more to come.

I really wanted to love this book, but it was the little things that killed it for me. I was annoyed by all the (mostly faux) name-dropping, but was stopped in my tracks by an error within the first 3 pages, where a perfume is described as costing "two thousand G's."

A G is a thousand. The authors (all three of them, and their editor) may have meant "two G's" or "two hundred G's," but two thousand thousands is two million, which is an unlikely price for a perfume no matter how upscale, show more besides which, no one would ever say that. I kept reading a little while longer, but couldn't make myself pick it up again afterwards. show less

Casanegra is an interesting read. The book starts with an almost Casablanca mood from its descriptions to the images that were in the readers mind as well as how it is written. This mood however takes a turn when death enters the book. With this death, the book takes a turn where at times some of the characters can get mixed up while providing such imagery that the book is hard to put down.
Tennyson is a former gigolo-turned-actor who becomes the primary suspect in the murder of a former lover. He decides to search for the real murderer on his own.

I thought the writing was solid and consistent. It is a quick read and a fairly good debut for Blair Underwood.
