Beware: Although the edition of this book in the Norton Critical Studies in Art History series is dated 1996, it is actually a reprint of the 1969 edition, so it contains none of the newer information on the Chartres windows that was discovered when they were cleaned in the 1980s. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. Still this book does collect and translate into English many hard to obtain resources, especially the medieval ones.
