This is chock full of Czech dishes, but surprisingly no breads; sweet breads only. I grew up on pork, sour kraut and dumplings, so I enjoy paging through the recipes. things I remember from childhood like milk soup, liver dumplings, kolache are all here. If you do not enjoy sour kraut, sour cream, lard, potatoes, hard boiled eggs, dumplings, caraway, or pork, then this is not for you. The recipes are simple fare, rural type farm type meals with lots and lots of carbohydrates and limited show more vegetables, except cabbage and root veggies. There are some photos and ink illustrations. I don't care for the way the ingredients are written in a paragraph rather than a list. I haven't cooked anything from this book, but it has given me a lot of ideas. show less
