I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I loved Maren & Colt’s reluctant to fall, allies to more romance. Like Maren, Colt is hesitant to open his heart after being betrayed by the woman he once loved. Though they’re opposites in many ways, they work so well together, & I loved watching the attraction flare between them. Both have lovable canine partners who help out, especially when it counts.

The mystery kept me quickly turning pages. Maren & Colt always seem one step behind the bad guys, who somehow manage to show up everywhere they are. The action is intense as they play a dangerous cat-and-mouse game with the Shadow & his associates. I enjoyed trying to figure out the Shadow’s identity & uncover who on the inside was working with him. Each clue leads to an exciting climax, & while there are still a few unanswered questions, I loved the ending.

A glimpse of Maren and Colt's past experiences offered depth to the story, and their realistic emotions created the perfect conflict. Could they overcome their doubts and trust their hearts? I loved the romantic tension and the faith that's woven into their story. Inspiring faith, but never preachy...one of Reed's trademarks! And I can't forget two loyal canine protectors, Haven and Rusk!

I recommend Danger in the Rockies for fans of heartwarming but thrilling romantic Christian suspense.

Texas Christmas Cover-Up by Terri Reed grabbed my attention right away. It is a fast-paced story set during the holiday season. The author’s vivid descriptions of South Padre Island allowed me to envision it. I enjoyed getting to know Kate, Jeremy, and Kate’s daughter, Emily. I also liked Jeremy’s family. They did not hesitate to help Kate and her daughter and do their best to make it a pleasant holiday for the pair. I enjoyed the mystery (I love solving whodunits). There are clues, show more twists and turns, and a red herring or two. I zeroed in on who I thought was the guilty party, and I could not wait to see if I was correct. The action kept things lively. Texas Christmas Cover-Up combines mystery, suspense, family, romance, and faith into an engaging story. show less

I started reading Standing Watch by Terri Reed before going to bed which turned out to be a mistake. I found myself reading this compelling tale until the wee hours. I thought Standing Watch was well-written with developed characters. I could feel the chemistry and tension between Eden and Zach. I admit, though, there were times when I wanted to bonk Zach over the head, because he was being so thickheaded over a certain issue. I loved the dogs. They are sweet and smart. I am continually show more impressed by the capabilities of dogs. Standing Watch has mystery, suspense, and action (which kept things lively). Someone was determined to kill Eden and Zach was dedicated to keeping her safe. The story had layers (it reminded me of an onion where you peel back layer after layer which each one better than the last) which made it more interesting. Standing Watch is the third book in the Dakota K-9 Unit series. It can be read independently but reading them sequentially may provide a more cohesive experience. I enjoyed the descriptions of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. I was surprised to learn that it is not a national park, but a national memorial managed by the national park service. Standing Watch is an absorbing story with a murdered ranger, an unforeseen surprise, a shielding spouse, a tenacious slayer, and a second chance romance. show less
