This is a great historical novel with lots of twists and suspense. Two men, one of them a prisoner who is going to hang the next day, meet by chance and go over the events of their lives. Eventful lives they are too! The characters are well drawn and the setting is fabulous, very detailed and interesting. It's hard to write a review and not give anything away. The prisoner spent his life working towards and waiting for the perfect moment to make a vile man pay for the damage he did to the show more prisoner as a child. He has few friends, but those he has are beyond loyal. The author created great secondary characters that added depth to the story. All in all a good read, if a bit slow moving for me. show less
This is an adorably cute book which captivates not only with it’s rhyming verse but mostly with it’s incredibly vivid watercolor pictures. The two sibling are on a quest to find a cure for the ill brother cub. They meet a host of wonderful animals and get all kinds of advice before returning home and finding that sister cub had the solution all along. My only curiosity throughout was: where is Mama bear? However every time I’d flip the page and see another gorgeous illustration I’d be show more captivated all over again. show less
I received an ecopy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
From Goodreads: "In The Sneezy Wheezy Day, brother cub isn’t feeling well. As he and sister cub seek help for his cold, they encounter many well-intentioned forest friends who offer silly home remedies."
Poor brother cub isn't feeling well at all. He and sister cub are out playing when his throat starts to get scratchy and his nose starts to get itchy. Sister cub is very worried about him and takes him to visit show more their friends in the woods to try to come up with something that will make him feel better. Although their friends mean well, they come up with some pretty off the wall remedies!!
This book is part of the Cougar Cub series, and so far my son has enjoyed every book from this series that I have read to him, including this one! The pictures are beautiful and go along well with the story, and the writing is lyrical and rhythmic. I've already read this story to my son many times, and he enjoys it every time!
The only complaint I would have is that some of the words are a little bit too adult for a children's book and are beyond a child's ability to comprehend, but they fit the rhyme and the rhythm of the story so I really don't think too many kids would mind.
In summary, this is a great installment in an already popular children's series, and the greatest critic of all, my son, gives it two thumbs up, which is good enough for me :D show less

My Thoughts:
A little bit on the strange side but I think the off beat rhyming at something to do with my feelings. The Sneezy Wheezy Day is about 2 cougar cubs, a brother and sister who spend the day trying to find a cure for brother cougar's cold. In the end, all he really needed was his sister.
Really a very sweet story that I think children with siblings would really enjoy. My little one (who is 5) is an only child but she still thought the cubs were really cute. We read it several times show more through in one sitting :)
The illustrations were very bright and vivid and I think little kids will really enjoy the different animals the cougar cubs meet along their way. show less
