A brief selection of poems chosen by children and for children. Arranged thematically, this anthology includes poems by Dorothea MacKellar, Robert Louis Stevenson, Ogden Nash and TS Eliot. I enjoyed both the text and the illustrations, but I've knocked a star off for being too short.
Ruby invites her friends to eat breakfast with her, play checkers and roll down the hill but they are all too busy. "That's okay," says Ruby who still finds pleasure and entertainment in doing the activities by herself. Later, she looks back on her day and sees it was "a perfect day for being all by myself!" A cheerful story about being resourceful when alone.
This book was very cute. It is natural to ask others how to make something when you don't know how but what this book teaches us is that you cannot listen to everyones opinion because your masterpiece does not always come out how you wanted it to. I love what this book says about friendships though, no matter if something come out the way you want it to, your friends are always there to support you!

this is a great book. easy read for kids. i love comics but sometimes for the ones just starting to read or just getting really good at it this is awesome. it's bigger print, it's colored unlike the usual books, (not all just usual), and they will be encouraged to read and that it can be fun. 5 stars for that if for nothing else.
