This is an amazing book in which John Edwards translates the 1st century Apicius's ' On Cookery ' and adapts the recipes for the 21st century. As ' Dormice cooked in honey ' was a favourite one is grateful for the adaptations. This is far more than a cookery book and describes food cooked in Europe during the period of Roman domination.
There is something for everyone in this book whether you are interested in cookery and want to, literally, spice up a dinner party, or are more interested in show more the socio-historical aspects. show less
