Although heavily enough abridged that one can read it to a four-year-old in an hour, this edition captures much of the flavour of the original, preserving most of the incidents and a good smattering of difficult but interesting words. Unlike Lewis Carroll's own "Nursery Alice" it avoids patronizing young readers, and to my delight the Mouse's Tail was reprinted exactly as it appears in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, language, wiggles, and all.
My cosmic bible - One of the greatest children's stories ever written . As Alice says "What is the use of a book without pictures or conversations?" Pure literary magic.
Ladybird Books, Ladybird Classics from Australia, retold by Joan Collins. The original author is Kenneth Grahame, who wrote it in 1908. It is a blend of anthropomorphism and very-British humor, the book is a classic tale of river life and friendship.
