Reviews
This is not your typical biography, it runs more to a fictionalized personal memoir in which the title character, in this case Bond creator Ian Fleming, wanders in and out at appropriate times. This reads like your spending an evening in the pub (or more likely in a good restaurant) with Harling while he regales you with stories of his old friend. As such it’s full of mid-20th Century British society slang and references that may bypass the modern reader. In places it’s also show more frustratingly vague and it’s not for the easily offended as it’s very frank at times. Overall I’d say this is more of a curiosity piece for those interested in how Fleming was viewed by one of his contemporaries. show less
