This is a pretty dry book, but when it calls itself an encyclopedia, I suppose that's to be expected. It's older, so it stops around 1996, but it's a great nostalgia tool that reminded me of a lot of Disney films and theme park attractions that I hadn't thought of in some time.
A fun and simple little book packed with the wisdom of Walt Disney.
This book collects quotes from Walt Disney on a wide range of topics, including Mickey Mouse, Disneyland, movies and animation, television, education, America, business, the Walt Disney Company (known as Walt Disney Productions when Walt was still alive), animals, art & music, and other areas as well.
Many of the quotes in this book are fairly well known ("...it was all started by a mouse.", "we keep moving forward", "we call show more it Imagineering - the blending of creative imagination and technical know-how", etc.) as well as many that are on the more obscure side. As you read through this book, you get a sense of how Walt Disney approached his life and his work. You also get a glimpse into the philosophy that made Walt Disney one of the most influential creative geniuses in history.
We all have things to learn through our lives, and finding the right teachers and role models is one of the most important things we can each do to improve our lives. No matter who you are or what you want to do with your life, Walt Disney has something to teach you, and this book is a great place to start your lessons.
I recommend this book anyone interested in learning more about Walt Disney. show less

My interest is in Disney films and Disneyland, Anaheim. This book gives 100+ alphabetized quotes from Walt Disney over his entire career. Many of the quotes gives his impression of the Disney film project (a large business) and Disneyland (a personal project) which he saw as separate during his lifetime. He talks about his theory of learning and visual learning, especially for kids. He says that his first creation Mickey, was a symbol independence, of making something of yourself. He said show more that the Mickey Mouse Club TV Show portrayed kids taking the same initiative to grow into maturity. Walt says that Disneyland was a place he thought important to take his own kids to see what the future was like and a place for the parents to reminisce about the past that was not yet totally faded. This book was published by the Disney Corporation for sale at the Disney resorts. Disney was proud of his American patriotism and Disney was enlisted in promoting the World War II war effort on the home-front. Excellent book.
