Short biography
Dr. James E. Smith grew up in a preacher’s home in East Tennessee. He has three brothers who are preachers. Dr. Smith received his education from Cincinnati Bible Seminary and Hebrew Union College--Jewish Institute of Religion. He came to Florida from a teaching position at Cincinnati Bible Seminary to help found Florida Christian College in 1976. Over the years he has served as Academic Dean and most recently as Chairman of the Division of Biblical Studies. Dr. Smith has authored eleven books, the most recent of which is the NIV commentary on 1 & 2 Samuel published by College Press. In addition, Dr. Smith works with his wife Rachel in producing resource materials for the national Bible Bowl and Beginner Bowl programs.

Early printings of this title have an error on p. 114. I was the proofreader and I missed it. It was discovered by a student reading to a blind student. Melchizedek was king of Salem.
