Wild America: The Record of a 30,000 Mile Journey Around the Continent by a Distinguished Naturalist and His British Colleague by Roger Tory Peterson
This is a classic. Written in 1955, it came before the phrase "big year" heard so commonly by hardcore birders.
This description of a year long bird quest is probably the first "big year" published.
Not only is t interesting reading, it represents a description of America and its bird diversity and abundance back when they were different than today.
It provides an insight to where our lifestyles were back than, and of our perceptions of diversity and species occurrences which are so different now.

The first book I ever read on endangered species, it got me hooked for life, this is one of my all-time favorites.
This is a 32-page book published by the National Geographic Society. The wording is in large print for young readers but it's enjoyable for readers of all ages. The book contains color photographs and cute illustrations of endangered wildlife including elephants, cheetahs, sea otters, and bears.
very important reference for bird antique bird prints
