Reviews
An autobiography by the British actor, which is as charming and self-depreciating as was his public persona. In the 1940's he was Britain's biggest film star before moving to Hollywood. A long film career followed; he was often the best thing in many average films. Carol Reed's Odd Man Out, Kubrrick's Lolita, Cukor's A Star is Born show his desire for challenging and demanding parts.
He was well educated at Marlborough and Cambridge and his memoir is well crafted and a pleasure to read.
