Venus and Mars colonies (mostly offstage) rebel against Earth, as told from the viewpoint of a young physicist who studied on Earth and has become a pawn of the Venusian military. I can no longer remember what we thought Venus was like in the 1963, but this seems unlikely even for that time. The plot is pretty far-fetched, but what dooms this book is the sexual relationship our college-age hero has with a 16 year old. All the talk about free-thinking Earth mores can't make that any less skeevy.
This was my first book by Dean McLaughlin. He can definitely write a story. This is the third of his 1960 SF novels. He also had a few short stories published in the SF pulps. One of his shorts was nominated for a HUGO and a Nebula.

I just didn't like this book. The primary character is a man driven to move his fellow man past the Solar System come hell or high water. But, he is a complete jerk. Good writer rotten story.
Típica guerra interplanetaria entre Venusinos y Terráqueos.
