Another romp by a miscellaneous group of moderns in an about to be even more war torn past, this time a couple of years after the death of Alexander the Great. The authors do seem to miss that slavery in that day and age was a mechanism for not killing off the entire populations of conquered territories, at least not for a couple of generations. As these books require that people from the modern world survive, prosper, and disseminate technology and values, suspension of belief must be show more employed at all times, but is certainly readable. show less
Lively, sometimes a little too bouncy but the story keeps your interest. Tech versus religious bigotry: an oft-told tale but worthy of being explored again. The saddle pigs add an interesting diversion.
Positioned nicely to create a successful 1632 spinoff.
Stereotypical start and quite predictable. However, the integration of modern technology with the matrilineal model of local societies and incipient political processes are beginning to drive the storyline nicely. It should have enough staying power to enable this 1632 sub-series to evolve nicely.

Starts slowly but sustains your interest through some very lively ladies, the Barbie Consortium. Most of the usual "Ring Of Fire" stalwarts are on the periphery or never mentioned The Vienna at this period is almost small enough to appropriately wear the sobriquet of being "in the sticks" that one of the Barbie's attaches to it. However, the collection of wealthy teenagers soon has most of the eligible males in their thrall. A simple car purchase by King Ferdinand blossoms into creating a show more monetary system for the Austrian Monarchy. Starting businesses, creating currencies and wealth as well as being anointed to the purple are easy gambits for Judy the Younger and her cohorts. show less
