My oldest daughter now 20 years old, loved this book so much, it is now in tatters.(I wouldn't dream of parting with it.) The pictures are beautiful, with bright colors. It has very little reading on each page, so as not to lose anyones attention. A great way to learn colors. It also has unusual colors for example, olive.
This was and is one of my favorite "colors" books, for many reasons: the engaging narrator (a flashy parrot, with a mouse sidekick), the charming illustrations, and the fact that it not only introduces colors but also demonstrates how mixing pigments creates new ones--not just the standard roygbiv of most "colors" books, but also more unusual hues like tan and lavender.
Just a little Random House Pictureback," the kind of small pb you can buy at a supermarket, but well done and cute nonetheless.  Kids can use it as an early reader, picking out more words and more different colors when they're a little older.  I do wish there were slightly more shades of each - that is to say, each blue is the same primary blue, some a little paler, but none are remotely turquoise or periwinkle.  But maybe that would be too risky, too overcomplicated, for the intended show more audience." show less

This book is a great informational text that I I really enjoyed because it combines mathematics with ELA. Another reason I liked it was that it offered many cues so that the reader cold recognize importan word(numbers). On example of this was the building of the word 'three' within the text to show the importance of that word for that page. It also displayed the mathematics very well by having detailed descriptions of each number presented. All in all this book is meant to educate student show more about number 1-100 and it does well in presenting this information in a fun readable way. show less
