Living on the Norfolk coast and watching the sand dunes eroding on an almost daily basis, I thought that it was about time that I developed an overview of the structure of coastal terrain and some idea as to the thinking as to how they are protected (cheaply!).

I saw this little book on the Amazon site and it seemed to offer just what I required. When it arrived, I was a little disappointed to find that it was only 128 pages. I need not have worried: almost like a poem, every word in this show more book is necessary. This is pure information, taking the study of coastline beyond what I originally hoped to find. This may be concentrated, but it is not a difficult read. I knew no more about the coastal structure than the average man in the street, but I found this to be easily understood and packed with fact, rather than opinion. The book makes good use of diagrams and pictures to reduce the need for large swathes of description.

This is one of those tomes which will not now sit dormant upon my bookshelf, but will become a reference work, getting well thumbed, whenever I read newspaper articles, etc. upon subject. One of my better buys.
