The illustrations are stronger than the story but for this reading level it is understandable.
Children who have been laughed at because they wear glasses will understand Maxs reluctance to wear his new glasses. This story provides an opportunity to explore a text layout that emphasizes dialog cues.
This story involves some animated vehicles and suggests that, "slow and steady wins the race." Imaginary narrative texts give the reader opportunities to explain how the personalities of the characters affect the plot
