Wow. What a huge change from the first book! The second installment in the Grail Keepers series was so much better! And no doubt it was all because the main character decided to ditch her male-bashing ways (okay, so that didn't happen until about 2/3 through the book, but hey, better late than never). It also didn't hurt that the entire book was set in Egypt, which enthralled me, as always. A great addition to the Bombshell line. (A-)
As a pagan it can be difficult to get books that are, well, sympathetic without being too twee or to exagerated. I liked it enough that I really want to find some more work by many of the authors. The stories are interspersed by spells and rituals.
Maybe it's just because of the Washington DC setting (familiar to me), but I really like this one. I like the characters and their outlooks - he's a standard male idiot (I don't do commitment) but she's not the standard female idiot (if I just love him enough he'll be fixed!). And he does figure it out reasonably quickly. And he's more worried about screwing up a friendship than about being tied down. Things like that. It's also got some major portions of the continuity for the Family show more Secrets series, and a lot more revealed. Good story. show less
Like the last Blade Keepers novel, really enjoyable. Vaughn really knows how to make fun, quirky characters. Sybil was cute as a female version of one of The Lone Gunmen and Trace was adorably sexy. I was dubious about this couple at first, but in the end I immensely enjoyed them together. Plus, I've never read a romance that features cage fighting, so bonus points for that.
