I read this book nearly seven years into parenting, as part of my research for a book I'm writing, and I didn't expect to be too terribly impressed. But in fact, this is an inclusive (if binary-tending), nonjudgmental, enthusiastically sex-positive book that embraces broad definitions of both human sexuality and sex. It's not cutesie or falling over itself to make jokes and be cool. It doesn't go in for gender essentialism or pop evolutionary psychology. I appreciate that it includes show more quotations from diverse mothers who don't always agree with each other or with the authors.

Although the book is clearly aimed at mothers, fathers and other parents--particularly those who have sex with (or want to have sex with) mothers--should read it, too. A lot of it is about parenting and sex, not about mothering and sex specifically.

Give this book to new parents who wouldn't seek it out for themselves! Read it! There's a lot in here for everybody.
