Joseph Steffan

A very personal story about the fight for one's own right to live as a homosexual in the face of persecution and discrimination. Jospeh Steffan recounts his experiences at the U.S. Naval Academy. He describes his journey from being a high-achieving midshipman to his forced discharge from the military due to his sexual orientation. As a gay man I found his narrative inspiring. Some of the early experiences in his life, before his time at the Naval Academy, paralleled my own life.
