Short biography
Barbara Ankrum says she's always been an incurable romantic, with a passion for books and stories about the healing power of love. It never occurred to her to write seriously until her husband, David, discovered a box full of her unfinished stories and insisted that she pursue her dream. Need she say more about why she believes in love?

With a successful career as a successful commercial actress behind her, Barbara decided she had plenty of eccentric characters to people the stories that inhabited her imagination. She wrote her first novel in between auditions and   led to a publishing contract, but she's never looked back. Years later, she still believes in happy endings and feels very lucky to do what she loves. Her historicals have won the prestigious Reviewer's Choice and K.I.S.S. Awards from Romantic Times Magazine, and she's been nominated for a RITA Award from Romance Writers of America.

Barbara lives in Southern California with her actor/writer/hero-husband, two cats and one scruffy, unrepentant dog at her side. They have two perfect grown children.

A Little Christmas Magic by Barbara Ankrum

Marietta, Montana is a place that one can expect the unexpected…ghosts, magic, true love and more. In this holiday story Holly McGuire and Trey Reyes star and do find their way to a HEA.

Holly loved her husband Tommy and stayed with him through thick and thin giving up some of her dreams along the way. Having fulfilled her husband’s last request as mentioned in his will she is finally ready to move on and fulfill her biggest dream of all – to show more be a mother. Tommy’s compatriots from the military are a “band of brothers” and come together to send him off with Holly – in Marietta – where anything can happen.

Trey Reyes, one of the “brothers” has loved Holly since the first time he set eyes on her BUT he kept his longings to himself for nearly a decade. Knowing she was coming to town his agenda had more to do with wooing and winning Holly than saying goodbye to Tommy. With a bit of help from Mick (another brother) and some magical happenings there is hope for him and Holly in spite of a bit of a glitch.

Heartwarming, perhaps a bit predictable and definitely logic defying this is a fun holiday story that makes me want to read more about Marietta and all that can happen there. I wonder if more of the “brothers” will have stories of their own?

Thank you to NetGalley and Tule Publishing – This is my honest review.

Eve and Ben are just friends. His first love is medicine, and it seems like nothing can compete with that, not even Eve. A chance encounter with a reindeer while Eve is driving him to the airport is the beginning of a chain of unlikely events that will change both their lives. This light-hearted romance has some serious issues that bring Ben up short. Taking to heart some unsolicited advice, he makes the most important decision of his life. This lovely Christmas story is much more than a show more rom-com, and illustrates what is really important. Well written with likable characters, it’s a perfect story for Christmas. show less
I liked the way this book started with two teens making a pinky-swear promise to meet on the girl's 30th birthday and marry each other if they were both still single. That was so cute. But when Jake goes to the meeting spot and finds out Olivia is there on a date, he takes off. Shocked that Jake actually remembered their promise and showed up, Olivia runs after him and explains that her date was set up by her sisters without her knowledge. With that straightened out, they start spending time show more together picking up where they left off 12 years earlier as best friends.

Both of them have a lot of baggage and changed lots over the years. Olivia was an excellent rider and made the US Olympic Equestrian Team. Life was good until an accident took her confidence making her not want to ride again. She is also emotionally scarred thanks to her abusive ex-husband. Olivia went back home to her parents' ranch to basically hide from life. Jake had been a helicopter pilot in the military but a crash sent him to the hospital then home. He was definitely not the boy Olivia remembered. And he didn't want to be just friends and never had.

This is an enjoyable romance between two people who have had some very hard things to deal with in their lives. They help each other see that they are braver and stronger than they thought they were. It was sweet that they both wanted more than friendship but hesitated in letting the other know. I was routing for them to get together. As for the characters I liked all of them in this story. Well except a couple who I really didn't like at all.

I recommend A Cowboy to Remember if you enjoy sweet friends-to-lovers stories.

Ali is one tough cookie, and I like her. Plus I am big into photography so I have to admit that this novel may have caught my attention due to that. She is a fighter who thinks she’s a runner, and it makes her someone interesting to read about.

Adam is a character I can appreciate because he’s multifaceted and has some very real trauma to deal with that does extend to his niece, Carrie. He is one of those people who does the right thing no matter what, and sometimes at cost to show more himself.

Carrie is a great secondary character, who actually goes through the most development out of any of the characters in this book. The thing I liked about her is she seems like a brat at first, until you realize why and then she becomes much easier to sympathize with.

The plot of this story is familiar, but it doesn’t seem too cliché. It is not slow burn, and does seem to be a rush to romance, but I am certainly not complaining as it was an enjoyable read with comfortable characters.
