I have been interested in the topic of sugar and addiction since I was in high school and had a teacher who spoke of the dangers of sucrose, suggesting that I read "Sugar Blues" by William Dufty. So when I saw this in the book store, I snatched it up, eager to learn more.
I was very disappointed by the misinformation, half-truths, lack of documentation, suppositions, and "Correlation does not imply causation", as any statistician can tell you. Some of the information was accurate, but in the show more hands of someone unused to looking for primary sources of medical information, this volume would be dangerous, since the information it presents is largely mixed with folklore rather than scientific data.
I cannot recommend this book for anything other than recycling, which is where my copy is going. Wasted $16 on it. show less

I have avoided reading this book for a few years. The whole idea of giving up sugar displeased my "moderation" brain. Now I find that NOT giving up sugar will be damaging to my waistline, overall well-being and definitely my brain. The author makes her case both passionately and with plenty of research. Be sure to read the 140 health hazards of sugar. They will shock you!
I knew sodas were bad for me, but couldn't quite kick my habit. I stopped drinking them 9 days ago and began to read this book. I will reread this book and some others like it, hoping to stay mentally strong while detoxing myself. Great information, and very eye-opening!!
