I was super excited for an angsty story about a betrayed heroine and the hero groveling and wooing her back. This is not that story. Heroine is a doormat who, at one point, begs the hero not to divorce her and to give their marriage another try, despite him being a complete and utter asshole to her. The hero occasionally nags her to eat, and this is presented as proof that he is a good guy? And where was the groveling?? I scrolled back and forth looking for it when the book ended. How show more anticlimactic! Also, the brother's secret fiance thing was WEAK. Sure, maybe he hides it from his mom because she is a bitch and he is a wimp, but why the hell would that be allowed to destroy a marriage??? There was so much good buildup for a great grovel but it fell short. (1.5 stars) show less

Callum, fifteen and alone since his parents’ death in an automobile accident, hopes against hope somehow the job at the store would be his. Would Mr. McCormick look past his snow-wet, threadbare clothing? Would he give him a chance?
Dash, running from an abusive stepfather, seeks shelter in the same abandoned warehouse where Callum spends his nights. Callum gives him food and water; he steps away, settles down, and goes to sleep. What will Dash do when a homeless man sneaks show more inside?
After several years of survival living, Marco realizes that the large warehouse probably has someone living there, perhaps more than one someone. He’d learned how to find odd jobs, to stay away from gangs, to survive. Unfortunately, a gang took over the place he’d stayed before; now he needed to search for a new “home.” Will he be welcomed here?
Wondering what had happened to his bodyguards, Crown Prince Kasim el Fotima barely survived a knife attack. As he considers the strange events of the day, he realizes he’s been poisoned. Unable to trust anyone, including his bodyguards, he sneaks away from the hospital where his driver had taken him. He discovers the old warehouse; will he find safety there?
Ten-year-old Angela finally finagles the last bit of splintered wood from around the basement lock, finally achieving freedom for the four of them. The young women sneak up the basement stairs and begin to run.
Angela, the newest of the arrivals, was determined to escape. Laura and Danielle had been captive for a few months; they followed Angela’s lead. Missy, held captive the longest, needed Angela to guide her. Their captors had taken their shoes away, believing that being shoeless would keep them from running away.
They were wrong.
Remembering that she’d seen a warehouse only a couple of blocks away, she led the others toward what she hoped would be a safe place to hide.
What will happen to this group of abandoned, forgotten, and abused? Can they find their way to a brighter tomorrow?

Very quick read as it is a novella. Rich guy finds his long-lost sister and says he's getting married but he doesn't have a girlfriend. He convinces a really nice woman in his finance department to be his fake fiance but they quickly fall in love over a weekend. Nothing like love at first sight. Could have been nice as a longer book and having the two of them get to know each other over a little bit more time. But enjoyable.
Second chance romance.
I like that he found out quite quickly that she had tried to contact him and there was a possibility his father had lied.
I didn't like that she was unable to resist him physically. It was the old ' if he kissed her she'd give in' or loose the ability to think. Fair enough if they got carried away once but I wanted her to have more backbone, she just seemed to forget all the hardship she'd suffered due to his role in the past.
