Vassula Ryden started writing the Messages in about 1985 and finished them about 2004. At the time she started she was married to an engineer with the United Nations in Bangladesh. One day she was preparing for a party that evening and she was writing a grocery list. Instead of writing what she wanted from the grocery store, she found herself writing the words, "I am Daniel. I am your guardian angel." She received messages from her angel for about three months, then she had a visit from show more Jesus and the messages became serious.
Vassula says that she receives her messages 'interiorly''. She 'hears' voices with her mind but does not hear them with her ears. She takes down the messages that she gets in long hand in notebooks and formerly she printed them as she received them. However they have now been published in typed format.
The messages are about having a personal relationship with God. They touch on unity and on spirituality as well as on the future of the 'church'. Although they are written in a very poetic style, there is a lot of sense in them. They are extremely beautiful. This is one example of them.
"I am your Abba, and that you are My offspring, and My seed .... blessed be the pure in heart: they shall see Me; rejoice and be glad and open up to receive My Holy Spirit so that you too may delight and hear My Voice! open your hearts and you shall see My Glory, and like a child needing comfort, My Holy Spirit will comfort you, whose love for you surpasses any human love" show less
