This is a good example of poetry because it combines rhyme and rhythm in a way that tickles our senses and makes us want to read on. Every word in the poetry has a reason for being there and it tells a story and shares feelings with the reader. This is also an informational book that shares facts apart from the story that the poetry shares with us.

Level: Intermediate
The detailed watercolor paintings perfectly illustrate the charming and informative rhymes about people, places and things associated with our nation's capito city, Washington DC, perfectly. What I particularly love about this ABC book is its appeal to young and old. There are simple rhymes telling about the capital and then, additionally, on each page there is a detailed sidebar that goes into more depth about the topic. Overall, this is a very attracitve and informative addtion to the genre.

Review: This is a good example of an informational book because each letter of the alphabet is illustrated by objects that are associated with the State of Oregon and accompanied with more information. The information was accurate and non-bias. It is a great way for individuals to become more familiar with Oregon.
Media: This is a good example of pencils media. The pictures and artwork are drawn with pencils of show more different colors and types, which allows different textures and shades. There is a wide range of lines and shading to enhance the pictures. show less
I like this book for the same reason I also enjoyed O is for Oregon. I think that children would find this book fun because they might reconize local sites they might have visited. It also gives families a good idea of places in the state to go. This book provides a more indepth look at the thing being represented by the letter than O is for Oregon does. For example, Z is for Zoo shows a picture of the elephant that painted pictures at the zoo and tells a little story about that. It tells a show more similar story for each of the items represented by the letter. show less
