Certain events touched on in this overview could encourage further exploration and deeper investigation. The book focuses mostly on high level facts, so deeper show more discussions might be difficult - but the photos are excellent.

Text highlights the brave involvement of some of the young people who marched, protested, were arrested, and risked their lives to end racial discrimination in the South during the 1950s and 1960s.

Personal reaction: Relocation camps are rarely discussed and should be. This book shows the inhumane way people were treated. It doesn't candy coat anything and shows how the children were still able to enjoy some things put on by adults in the camp.

Extension Ideas: learn to make paper flowers. Learn how to make a stone garden which is in show more the back of the book. show less
