(I didn't ever read chapter 1). Great commentary on our messed-up, fake society. Should probably be required reading for a marriage prep. class. Points out even more lies that media tells us. And definitely gave me some mindsets to avoid.
It was a little reminder that addiction is not only what we think about it, but so much more. This book goes over the addictions of sex, romance and relationships, and helps a bit to understand what and where to pay attention, in case you need it.
I am still reading this book. I read it when I have time in the bathroom, but I find that it's too hard to follow, and that she rambles on and on and on about stuff that doesn't make any sense. It feels like there is alot of fluff and not enough meat. The concepts and living in process system she presents however does seem like a very worthwhile notion
In Co-Dependence, Schaef discusses the impact her new theory will have on the fields of mental health, chemical dependency, family therapy and the women's movement. An she traces the history and development of the concept of co-dependence and discusses its often confusing, overlapping definitions.
